Forgive him? Forgive her? Forgive them? Why should I?
When we’re upset, these are the questions that come to mind. We feel so upset and defeated that the worst thing we could do to them, is hold a grudge. But that’s just it… Read that again… How can we hurt someone else by holding onto what they did to us? That doesn’t seem right.
In fact, holding the grudge is only hurting us more.
“But how do I forgive? How do I move on? I just want to be over it!”
This is what I desperately want the answers to and want, to feel that peace of mind. As I just try and train my brain to let it go and keep moving through life, sometimes I do not feel the type of relief that I need because they’re just out there living life like they didn’t do terrible things. But the best thing that I have began to research through my journey in Chasing God, is to simply, just forgive. The peace and healing will soon follow because we’ve done all that God has asked of us. This one simple thing.
For those of us who need references to scriptures, I have found a few below:
Colossians 3:13 NLT- “MAKE ALLOWANCE FOR EACH OTHER’S FAULTS, AND FORGIVE ANYONE WHO OFFENDS YOU. REMEMBER THE LORD FORGAVE YOU, SO YOU MUST FORGIVE OTHERS
Matthew 6:14 NLT- “IF YOU FORGIVE THOSE WHO SIN AGAINST YOU, YOUR Heavenly Father IN HEAVEN WILL FORGIVE YOU”
MARK 11:25 NLT- “BUT WHEN YOU ARE PRAYING, FIRST FORGIVE ANYONE YOU ARE HOLDING A GRUDGE AGAINST, SO THAT YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN WILL FORGIVE YOUR SINS TOO”
